Sara Swenson

Chicago native, Sara Swenson, has trained at Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago as a member of their scholarship program, studying ballet and contemporary with well knownartists Claire Bataille, Birute Barodicaite, and Frankie Avina.  Sara received the majority of her dance instruction under the guidance of Alyce Keaggy-Brinkmann.  Her training has included many summers with The Joffrey Ballet, Orlando Ballet, BalletMet, and Carolina Ballet.  Ms. Swenson also participated in BalletMet’s Pre-Professional Program, where she was able to work with BalletMet’s Artistic Director Gerard Charles.  To enhance her dance training, Sara has studied Dance History, Music Theory, and Ballet Pedagogy.  Ms. Swenson has performed with the Schaumburg Dance Ensemble and was recently a guest artist with the Northwest Ballet Company. Sara also appeared as a back up dancer for Beyoncé on the final Oprah Winfrey show in May, 2011 and has performed in the Chicago Lyric Opera’s production of Rinaldo.  Most recently Ms. Swenson joined The Big Muddy Dance Company in St Louis where she was able to work with world renowned choreographers Lou Conte, Harrison McEldowney, and Laurie Stallings.  Sara is thrilled to be joining the OYT family!
